    Fernando Ortiz, MD is an Interventional Cardiologist at The Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

    With undergraduate degrees in both Biomedical Sciences, (with a concentration in Cellular Biology and Chemistry), and Ind Interdisciplinary Honors Research, Dr. Ortiz went on to graduate with his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Dr. Ortiz completed his residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian–Columbia University Medical Center going on to accomplish his cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota and his research fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

    Dr. Ortiz's clinical interests include complex coronary artery revascularization, chronic total occlusion (CTO), Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI). He has served as an investigator for a variety of clinical research trials and has contributed to many publications with topics including severe aortic stenosis, congestive heart failure and peripheral vascular disease.

    Dr. Ortiz is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography and internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and is fluent in Spanish.
