    Professional Background
    Dr. Ann Tong graduated Magna cum Laude from the combined accelerated BA/MD Program from Boston University.  She served her Internship, Residency, and Chief Residency at New England Medical Center in Boston, followed by dual fellowships in Cardiology and in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard Medical School/School of Public Health and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.  She concluded her training with an additional fellowship in Echocardiography at Methodist Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

    Dr. Tong is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a specialty certificate in Cardiovascular Disease.  Additionally she is board certified in Echocardiography (Level 3) and Nuclear Medicine (Level 2).  She is also certified in coronary CT (Level 2).  Dr. Tong holds current medical licenses in both Nevada and Florida.

    Prior to relocating to Gainesville, Dr. Tong held faculty appointments at MD Anderson at The University of Houston, Baylor College of Medicine, and Tufts University School of Medicine.  Working in the private sector, Dr. Tong was Directors of Echocardiography and Congestive Heart Failure Clinic of Southwest Medical Associates in Las Vegas, Nevada for four years.  She joined The Cardiac & Vascular Institute in 2009.

    Dr. Tong’s areas of clinical interest include Congestive Heart Failure, Heart Disease in Women, Echocardiography and Valvular Heart Disease. As Director of Echocardiography and Director of the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, Dr. Tong oversees TCAVI’s outpatient and inpatient Echocardiography Laboratory and Heart Failure Clinic.
